STUDIO fellow Richard Purcell is the CAUSE postdoctoral fellow and an assistant professor of English at Carnegie Mellon University. His primary field of study is late nineteenth, twentieth century and twenty-first century American literature and literary criticism. He has secondary interests in African-American literature, Film Studies and Cold War Studies. Purcell’s work can be found in Critical Quarterly and on National Public Radio. Additionally he has worked in collaboration with the Pittsburgh Board of Education to develop a course on African-American literature for high school seniors.
