We’re excited to share the announcement from subRosa‘s Hyla Willis the publication of “Night Sweats: Cyberfeminist Practices”…part of the Palgrave #BioArt book series.
Another exciting work to come out of engagement with the STUDIO’s artist archives.
“We are so proud of the legacy of your amazing contributions to subRosa’s practice and wanted to share this news ahead of book release events and additional publicity we’re planning for this fall: please let us know if you’d like to be kept in the loop or be part of an event in your area. We’re also developing a limited-run podcast series in support of the book and will be excited to tell you more about that soon.
Night Sweats considers the legacy of subRosa as one of the first art groups to address biotechnology from global feminist perspectives. It intervenes in art and life with speculations on plant-assisted reproduction and opting out of “terms and conditions,” and draws on examples of reproductive mutual aid and revisionist histories of alchemy and the automation of writing systems. A chapter we’re especially pleased with is “Domain Errors! A Virtual Roundtable” which includes thoughtful and provocative reflections from many of the original contributors to Domain Errors! Cyberfeminist Practices book published as a subRosa collective project nearly 25 years ago.”
