About Meshwork
Meshwork is a new visual music festival in Pittsburgh, tracing spaces where sound and image converge, movement becomes signal, and bodies meet machines. Across performance, cinema, animation, installation, and computational art, artists and audiences meet within a shifting meshwork, where disciplines collide, known forms dissolve, and new relations emerge. Founded and directed by Johannes DeYoung and Annie Hui-Hsin Hsieh, and supported by Carnegie Mellon University College of Fine Arts, Meshwork brings artists and audiences together to expand embodied audiovisual experience and reimagine what visual music can become.
Student Commissions – Apply here
The festival is calling for proposals from the CMU student community for groundbreaking new creative projects that challenge the sensory boundaries between the visual and the auditory.
The festival will support four projects of up to $1500 in material support to be presented at the festival in late February 2027. Priority will be given to interdisciplinary projects, and any material purchase will need to comply with CMU’s general equipment purchasing guidelines.
