Character Design Worldbuilding Studies

Grace Liu (2021)

With the support of Microgrant #2021-028 from the Frank-Ratchye Fund for Art @ the Frontier, School of Art undergraduate Grace Liu attended an 8-week worldbuilding workshop taught by Riot Games designer Julian Futanto during the COVID pandemic. Liu writes: “My FRFAF project is my portfolio, demonstrating the most polished works I have created over the course of the semester. Varying in style, depth, and genre, each project is an experimental investigation of different worlds. I not only cultivated my technique, but also expanded my visual library and cultural understanding. After finishing multiple “sprint” projects, I am currently working on a large project on the indigenous people of Taiwan, and hope to continue crafting even bigger worlds.”
