The Steaks Have Never Been Greater

Hannah Epstein & Maddy Varner (2016)

In The Steaks Have Never Been Greater—a two-person exhibition at CMU’s Frame Gallery that ran from November 4-13, 2016, coinciding with the 2016 presidential election—School of Art students Hannah Epstein (MFA) and Maddy Varner (BFA) constructed a cardboard meme-pocalypse to face the end of the world as we know it. The Steaks Have Never Been Greater was supported by Microgrant #2016-028 from the Frank-Ratchye Fund for Art @ the Frontier.

One of the projects in the exhibition was “Grab the Pussy“. This game uses an extending grabber arm to allow players to reach into a box filled with shredded newspaper and hopefully grab a pussy (cat). Each pussy is worth a certain amount of points and the player with the most points after 3 rounds, wins.
