Robotic Quine

Bryce Summers (2016)

Robotic Quine or “Robo Quine” is a robot that types its own source code. Bryce Summers designed the Robotic Quine programming language (RQL) which commands the xy-gantry robot to type on a human interface keyboard, and a G-Code which allows the artist to command the robot to elegantly write its own source code by translating the G-code to a machine code, translated again through input on the Qwrty keyboard. The theoretically endless translation cycle allows the robot to “write” its own source code.
