Lovushke

Lovushke is an experimental theatrical performance combining Virtual Realty with live performance immersive theatre created by Almeda Beynon and Kevan Loney. They developed and investigated the duality between the communal experience of live performance, and the personalized/private experience of VR. The project relied upon audience participation to piece together a narrative that explored the relationship of the mind and body at the end of one’s life.

The driving force of the project was how virtual reality could alter the presentation and reception of live performance, and how to create a narrative when a portion of the story was only accessible to one audience member at a time.

This project was supported by a microgrant from the Frank-Ratchye Fund for Art @ the Frontier (FRFAF), the PearlArts Diving Movement Residency, and GuSH.

Almeda Beynon and Kevan Loney are third-year MFA students from CMU’s School of Drama and the School of Art.
