Limbo (Live Animation of Non-Bipedal Characters)

Nik Diamant (2019)

Limbo by Nikolas Diamant :: Supported by FRFAF (#2020-024) from STUDIO for Creative Inquiry on Vimeo.

BCSA undergraduate Nikolas Diamant conducted an investigation into live, realtime character animation for non-bipedal and many-limbed bodies. Using a Microsoft Kinect depth camera, Diamant developed custom software for puppeteering specially rigged characters with his own movements. His interactive system was exhibited in December 2019 as part of “Every Possible Utterance”, a public event at the Pittsburgh Children’s Museum. Diamant’s work was supported by Microgrant #2020-024 from the Frank-Ratchye Fund for Art @ the Frontier.
