Axel Straschnoy
Former Fellows
Born in Buenos Aires, artist Axel Straschnoy studied at Kuvataideakatemia, Helsinki and Universidad de Buenos Aires. He took part in the Ricardo Rojas Cultural Center’s visual art seminar in 2005. His work has been exhibited in Galería Dabbah Torrejón, Buenos Aires in 2006 (Los Proyectos Medley Taller Boceto) and in MAA-TILA, Helsinki in 2007 (Camera). He took part in the following group shows: Nefelibatas (Museo de Arte Moderna de São Paulo, 2002), Territorios Ocupados (Fundación Telefónica , 2004), Urban Pedestals (Copenhagen, 2007), Todella Siistiä (Rauma Taidemuseo, 2008). In 2005 Straschnoy was awarded the first prize in arteBA-Petrobras Visual Arts Prize and in April 2007 he was named Artist of the Month by FRAME, Finnish Fund for Art Exchange. He participated in the Le Pavillon program at Palais de Tokyo, Paris. His permanent home is in Helsinki, Finland.
