Federico Finchelstein
In this talk, Professor Federico Finchelstein will explore the past and present of global fascisms and populisms. He will discuss a new political breed, the wannabe fascists. This new type of populist politician is typically a legally elected leader who, unlike previous populists who were eager to distance themselves from fascism, turns to totalitarian lies, racism, and illegal means to destroy democracy from within.
Professor Finchelstein’s visit is cosponsored by the departments of English, History, and Languages, Cultures and Applied Linguistics, the School of Art, the Buncher Chair in Jewish Studies, the Center for the Arts in Society, the Frank-Ratchye STUDIO for Creative Inquiry, the Humanities Center, and the Humanities Scholars Program.
