North of Nowhere

North of Nowhere is an experimental, mixed-media short film that combines live-action footage, hand-drawn animation, and puppetry. The story takes place in the barely-fictional Appalachian town of Artemis Valley, following a young, disillusioned outsider trying to figure out what to do with her life. After hitting a deer with her car, the young woman stumbles into a world of secrets, cover-ups, and man-made horrors– all centered around the defunct nuclear processing plant in the outskirts of her hometown. Based on the true story of my hometown North Apollo, PA, North of Nowhere is a horror-mystery film that focuses on the effects of environmental pollution and obscured history on a small town and its surroundings.
