69 Love Songs

Wendy Kuhn (2021)

“Queer not as being about who you are having sex with, that can be a dimension of it, but queer as being about the self that is at odds with everything around it and has to invent and create and find a place to speak and thrive and to live.”

-Bell Hooks

69 Love Songs is a jukebox musical fantasia working group, aimed toward a public performance. Due to health and safety concerns during COVID outbreaks, the final performance could not be executed.

This fantasia, “69 Love Songs” begins and ends with The Magnetic Fields’ album. These 69 love songs are near and dear to the team memebers’ hearts, as we they are longtime fans of the band and their work. Each of them have a personal journey of falling in love with this album, and this fantasia is the culmination and continuation of that adoration as a creative team.
