Pneumatic Tubes | A Series of Tubes

Molly Steenson, Jesse Chandler (2021)

Molly Wright Steenson and Jesse Chandler became collaborators in a longterm research project studying the cultural, bureaucratic, and technological history of information systems stemming from the Parisian pneumatic post. This project compares film, music, visual art, and technical modeling to give the audience an historical comparison to the development of modern digital networks – the challenges faced by constructing these networks, the limits of what could be sent through these networks and the impact they had on communication as a whole.

This research process was made possible in part by the Frank-Ratchye Further Fund Grant#2021-052.
