Effervescent Shadow Bazaar Installation by Emmanuel Lugo :: Supported by FRFF (#2023-017) from STUDIO for Creative Inquiry on Vimeo.

The Effervescent Shadow Bazaar installation is a piece made for Johannes De Young’s Shadow Play class. The installation is centered around an iteration of touchdesigner that accepts camera feed from 30 feet above the participants and reprojects participant’s morphing silhouettes onto a large canvas in front of them. The piece has multiple types of touchdesigner manipulations and stylizations contributed by different members of the team to experiment with the basic tools of Touchdesigner. A synchronized effort to create different visualizations with the same data. The real time silhouettes are created by just asking Touchdesigner to only apply a desired transformation to pixels that are darker than the floor which is lit. Support from the STUDIO for Creative Inquiry helped purchase the version of Touchdesigner that runs this visualization. This project was made possible in part by Frank Ratchye Further Fund microgrant #2023-017.
