We Have a Future, Perhaps

“We have a Future, Perhaps” is a video-series and exhibition by Summer Leavitt reference and reimagine queer histories and cultural markers through an auto-documentary and archival practice. Leavitt writes, “I’m working to construct narratives in which no matter what the future is, I, as a queer person, can still exist.”

Leavitt’s quotidian gestures, objects, and characters are framed to feel bizarre or out of place. They perform for camera as every character, filming things both on-site and in studio environments, combined with found footage.
