Art && Code 3D: Introduction, Golan Levin
The October 2011 ART && CODE conference at Carnegie Mellon featured a weeklong “festival as laboratory” hackathon (October 11-21, 2011) dedicated to the exploration of new cultural applications of 3D sensing and visualization technologies. During this period, a group of 15 hackers, artists and researchers huddled in CMU’s STUDIO for Creative Inquiry to create new Kinect-based artworks and experiments.
Here, Golan Levin (organizer of the ART && CODE festival, and Director of the STUDIO for Creative Inquiry) introduces the presentations from the Festival-as-Laboratory hackathon. Recorded October 22, 2011 in Kresge Theater, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh.
